The Associate Dean of the College for Academic and Scientific Affairs


The duties of the Associate Dean for Academic and Scientific Affairs constitute one of the main pillars upon which the Deanship of the College of Education for Human Sciences is based. This office represents the central body responsible for overseeing conferences, symposia, seminars, and other scientific activities within the College. In addition, it supervises the affairs of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, ensuring their discipline during their academic studies as well as after graduation.

Among the responsibilities of the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic and Scientific Affairs are responding to incoming correspondence, monitoring student attendance and absences, ensuring adherence to the official uniform, reviewing the minutes of student disciplinary committees, and coordinating the preparation of examination schedules in collaboration with the academic departments. Furthermore, the office ensures the implementation of the regulations and instructions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to the effective directives of the Presidency of Tikrit University.

Duties and Authorities of the Associate Dean for Academic and Scientific Affairs

Duties and Authorities of the Associate Dean for Academic and Scientific Affairs:

  1. Organizing final examination schedules in coordination with the academic departments of the College.

  2. Organizing weekly class schedules in coordination with the academic departments and based on classroom availability to ensure smooth conduct of postgraduate studies.

  3. Supervising the weekly lecture record prepared for this purpose to ensure coverage of all scheduled hours for each course in accordance with applicable regulations.

  4. Monitoring attendance and discipline of postgraduate students in accordance with the established rules and regulations.

  5. Reviewing and verifying postgraduate admission applications received from academic departments and standardizing them.

  6. Verifying cases of transfer to postgraduate studies from other universities and referring them to the relevant academic departments for consideration and communication with the concerned authorities.

  7. Following up with postgraduate students regarding timeframes and study dedication according to regulations and instructions.

  8. Participating in College Postgraduate Committees’ meetings when invited to discuss postgraduate matters within the departments’ scope, ensuring proper performance. Preparing a discussion statement for the postgraduate student one week prior to the defense, preparing committee minutes, evaluating them, and submitting them to the College Council.

  9. Supervising the preparation of annual and special statistics related to postgraduate studies at the College.

  10. Distributing and collecting examination booklets in accordance with established procedures.

  11. Announcing examination results after approval by the Postgraduate Committees in the academic departments and according to their scope of responsibility.

  12. Providing academic departments with grades according to a prepared template for approval by the Postgraduate Committees.

  14. Coordinating with academic departments regarding the distribution of examination questions for the first and second terms, according to undergraduate study procedures.

  15. Communicating with official authorities regarding all matters related to the postgraduate student’s academic record, from registration until graduation.

  16. Corresponding with the University Presidency / Postgraduate Studies Department regarding all matters related to the postgraduate student’s academic record.

  17. Communicating with official authorities to obtain the necessary approvals for attendees after their names and departments have been identified by the relevant academic department.

  18. Signing annual increment and promotion forms for postgraduate staff in his capacity as the highest authority.
