Department Vision

Art Education is an essential component of the general educational process and complements other academic subjects. It plays a pivotal role in developing and enhancing learners’ artistic and creative abilities, equipping them with new artistic perspectives that adapt to their work conditions and environment. Art Education provides opportunities for students to express their individuality in vision, thinking, and discovery, fostering freedom of artistic expression to convey their emotions, ideas, and feelings in ways that meet their needs and desires.

Furthermore, Art Education allows each learner to practice their preferred artistic methods while simultaneously developing skills that support other academic subjects through drawings, diagrams, and visual representations. To achieve these goals, the Department of Art Education is committed to continuous development and the advancement of academic and artistic standards. This includes planning to enhance faculty performance, equipping departmental classrooms with the latest tools and materials, and designing updated curricula that incorporate global trends in art, science, and education.

Ultimately, the Department aims to graduate competent academic researchers who contribute to addressing aesthetic challenges in art, thereby positively impacting the development of society and the nation.

Department Mission

Art Education plays a vital role in shaping the personality of students who live amid contemporary social changes and transformations. It contributes positively to the development and refinement of students’ intellectual, emotional, sensory, and motor abilities. Art Education addresses these aspects in a balanced and integrated manner, ensuring that no dimension is emphasized over another, enabling students to adapt effectively to life and add meaning to it through the way they live.

Consequently, students in Art Education are expected to understand the concepts of art and art education, as well as to relate Art Education to societal issues, needs, and cultural contexts. 

The postgraduate student in Art Education is guided by the principle of returning art to its cultural foundations, enabling it to play its role in nurturing a creative, sensitive, and thoughtful individual who contributes to the advancement of their nation and homeland, equipped with cultural awareness and scientific thinking.

Based on this principle, the Department’s mission focuses on developing and enhancing students’ artistic and academic capabilities in alignment with the demands of contemporary life and the labor market. Moreover, the Department aims to provide an integrated educational environment that stimulates imagination and creative thinking in all its forms, supporting artistic production and professional development within the field. It also promotes openness to the contemporary world scientifically, technologically, artistically, and culturally, ensuring continuous exposure to and engagement with the latest developments in the discipline.

Department Objectives

The general objectives of the Department of Art Education align with the objectives of the College of Education for Humanities, as well as the Department’s specific goals. At the postgraduate level, the Department aims to:

1. Graduate academically and artistically qualified professionals prepared in alignment with societal needs and labor market demands (including institutions where Art Education is applied), equipping them to assess educational and artistic objectives.
2. Prepare specialized researchers in Art Education capable of conducting research and experimentation across different levels of general and higher education, with the goal of developing components of the educational process.
3. Train specialists capable of designing and implementing training programs for practitioners in the field of Art Education, including in-service teacher development through research and investigation to address professional challenges.
4. Prepare specialists able to deliver and implement Art Education programs and promote their role in community development through various media and communication channels.
5. Promote artistic and aesthetic culture by raising artistic awareness and aesthetic sensitivity, developing intellectual and sensory skills, and enhancing artistic and aesthetic taste.
6. Develop cultural awareness of the importance of the arts among students, the college community, and various societal groups, while reinforcing social and ethical values.
7. Identify and nurture artistically talented individuals, refine their abilities, and provide guidance and mentorship to develop their potential.
