Vision of the Department of English Language

The Department of English Language aspires to achieve excellence in English language teaching, recognizing English as a language of international dialogue and a window for cultural and civilizational exchange. This vision aims to contribute to building a knowledge-based society and facilitating the transfer of science and technology.

Mission of the Department of English Language

The mission of the department emphasizes the importance of learning English as a foreign language, enabling students to communicate with cultures where English is spoken as a first or second language. The department aims to be a leader in providing distinguished education and purposeful research in English language and literature within an intellectually stimulating environment that fosters creativity. This mission enables students to become fully competent, creative, qualified, and responsible citizens.

Objectives of the Department of English Language

• The primary objective of the department is to prepare academically qualified teachers for English instruction in intermediate and secondary schools, thereby contributing to societal development.

• Prepare graduates proficient in the four language skills: listening and comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

• Develop a teaching and educational cadre familiar with the latest language teaching methods and learning strategies.

• Qualify students for further studies in postgraduate programs.

• Establish channels of communication and cooperation with similar departments in other universities.

• Cultivate literary taste, aesthetic sense, and artistic appreciation in students through the study of various models of poetry, prose, novels, linguistics, and translation.

• Enhance the academic level of faculty members by encouraging research, participation in scientific conferences, and keeping up with developments in English language and literature research.
