Department Vision

The Department of English Language aspires to achieve leadership in the field of English language teaching, recognizing English as a language that facilitates dialogue among peoples and serves as a window for communication with the cultures and civilizations of the world. This vision aims to contribute to building a knowledge-based society and to the dissemination of science and technology.

Department Mission

The mission of the Department emphasizes the importance of learning English as a foreign language, as it enables students to communicate with other cultures where English is spoken as a first or second language. The Department aims to be a leader in providing high-quality education and purposeful research in English language and literature within an intellectually stimulating environment that fosters creativity. This approach equips students to become competent, creative, qualified, and responsible global citizens.

Department Objectives

• The primary objective of the Department is to prepare academically qualified teachers for English language instruction in middle and high schools, thereby contributing to societal development.
• To graduate students proficient in the four language skills: listening and comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in English.
• To prepare an educational and teaching cadre well-versed in the latest language teaching methods and learning strategies.
• To highly qualify students for continuing their studies in postgraduate programs.
• To establish channels of communication and areas of cooperation with similar departments in other universities.
• To cultivate literary taste, aesthetic sensibility, and artistic appreciation in students through the study of various forms of poetry, prose, narrative texts, linguistics, and translation.
• To enhance the academic level of faculty members by motivating them to conduct research, attend scientific conferences, and stay updated with developments in English language and literature research.
