About the Department of Geography

The Department of Geography at the College of Education, University of Tikrit, was established in 1992. Since its inception, the department has worked on developing its academic and scientific programs to serve the community and keep pace with advancements in both physical and human geography. The department actively participates in geographic conferences and scientific seminars held nationwide, reflecting its prominent role in the exchange of knowledge and academic expertise.

In the context of developing scientific competencies, the department launched its postgraduate programs in 1997, covering various specializations in both physical and human geography. The aim is to prepare qualified specialists capable of meeting the needs of society and academic institutions across the country, and to contribute to sustainable development through scientific research and the practical application of geographic principles.

Department Vision

The vision of the Department, as a continually evolving specialization, is to prepare a generation committed to serving the nation through in-depth study, intensive knowledge acquisition, observation, fieldwork, and practical application in both physical and human geography. The department aims to train students in modern skills and techniques aligned with contemporary educational philosophies, guiding them to understand and analyze the factors affecting the distribution of human activities and the natural manifestations of geographic phenomena, enabling them to effectively perform their educational and professional roles.
