Department Vision

The vision of the Department, as a continually evolving specialization, is to prepare a generation committed to serving the nation through in-depth study, intensive knowledge acquisition, observation, fieldwork, and practical application in both physical and human geography. The department aims to train students in modern skills and techniques aligned with contemporary educational philosophies, guiding them to understand and analyze the factors affecting the distribution of human activities and the natural manifestations of geographic phenomena, enabling them to effectively perform their educational and professional roles.

Department Mission

The mission of the Department is to prepare a generation dedicated to serving the nation, characterized by scientific and patriotic values, with a comprehensive understanding of geographic and educational methodologies as well as relevant academic subjects. The department aims to qualify graduates for work in teaching and related institutions, enabling them to develop effective and purposeful strategies that contribute to the proper advancement and development of the country within the framework of sustainable development.

The department emphasizes engagement with official institutions and the preparation of qualified teachers and researchers for scientific and professional institutions, including the Ministries of Education and Higher Education, as well as private colleges, in accordance with the needs of the local and regional labor market. Moreover, the department seeks to enhance the academic and research standards of its graduates to keep pace with scientific progress and societal requirements, striving to achieve a leading position both locally and internationally.

Department Objectives

The Department of Geography at the College of Education for Humanities strives to achieve the following objectives:

1. To prepare qualified teachers capable of effectively teaching geography in middle and high schools, equipping students with a solid understanding of geographic concepts and keeping pace with technological and scientific advancements.
2. To develop the capabilities of postgraduate students by enhancing their scientific and research competencies.
3. To provide government universities with highly qualified academic staff through the output of postgraduate programs.
4. To cultivate an academic generation responsible for educating and nurturing future generations.
5. To provide comprehensive education in geographic specializations related to both the natural and human environment.
6. To teach students skills in map-making and the geographic distribution of phenomena using advanced scientific methods, such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing.
7. To qualify students and enable them to advance in the scientific and educational process according to modern teaching methods in geography.
8. To promote the quality of learning according to scientific and educational standards, ensuring that students are equipped to address various challenges through fieldwork, which serves as the true laboratory for geography.
9. To prepare students to practice geography as a sustainable and evolving profession.
10. To develop intellectual and cultural awareness that keeps pace with local and regional developments in geographic analysis and the study of natural and human phenomena.
