About the Department
The Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education was established in the academic year 2003/2004. The department aims to graduate male and female teachers who are proficient in reading, reciting, interpreting the Qur’an, and understanding its meanings. Graduates are awarded a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Sciences, as well as a Ph.D. in Islamic Jurisprudence, its Principles, and the Fundamentals of Religion.
Vision
The Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education aspires to achieve excellence in teaching and research in Islamic Sharia sciences and its various branches, keeping pace with contemporary scientific and global developments in the field. The department aims to produce graduates who are scientifically well-prepared and equipped with the technical skills necessary to succeed as specialists in all fields of Sharia sciences, and to work efficiently across various social sectors of the state.
The department also seeks to make an active contribution to university and community service, address societal issues, and promote Sharia knowledge and awareness among the unified Iraqi community. Key objectives include:

Enhancing the role of the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education within the university to serve its students and the civil society.

Organizing more academic meetings and specialized seminars for the department in collaboration with educational institutions and participating in conferences, workshops, and seminars both inside and outside the university.

Establishing a Recitation Center through an audio laboratory and activating its role both internally and externally.

Delivering numerous lectures and seminars free of charge at mosques across the province.
