About the Department
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences was established in 1993. Admission is open to graduates of secondary schools (both scientific and literary branches), in addition to in-service teachers on study leave. The department is dedicated to preparing specialists in the fields of Educational Psychology, Teaching Methods, Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology, Educational and Psychological Counseling, and Educational Administration.

Graduates of the department are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Psychology. Moreover, the department offers postgraduate studies (M.A. and Ph.D.), which are organized into two main groups, further subdivided into specialized fields as follows:

First: The Psychological Group

  1. Educational Psychology

Second: The Educational Group

  1. General Teaching Methods (Psychology graduates)

  2. Teaching Methods of Arabic Language (Arabic Language graduates)

  3. Teaching Methods of English Language (English Language graduates)

  4. Teaching Methods of Geography (Geography graduates)

  5. Teaching Methods of History (History graduates)

  6. Teaching Methods of Islamic Education (Qur’anic and Islamic Education graduates)

Vision

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities / University of Tikrit, within the next five years, aspires to achieve quality and excellence and to attain a distinguished position on the map of higher education in its various domains (teaching, scientific research, community service, and environmental development). The department is committed to graduating students capable of competing in the labor market by providing a distinguished environment for teaching and learning, as well as an atmosphere that fosters both theoretical and applied scientific research.

Furthermore, the department seeks to expand in the fields of its major and minor specializations in educational and psychological sciences, in response to the growing needs of universities, colleges, directorates of education, research centers, and other governmental institutions within the province and across Iraq.
