Department Overview
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, College of Education for Humanities,University of Tikrit, was established in 1993. Since its establishment, the Department has continuously developed its academic programs and human resources. Its academic and administrative staff currently consists of (54) members holding PhD and Master’s degrees across various academic ranks, in addition to supporting administrative personnel.
The Department admits graduates of secondary schools from both scientific and literary streams to its undergraduate programs (morning and evening studies), as well as certified in-service teachers. It seeks to prepare specialists in education and psychology, awarding graduates a Bachelor’s degree in Educational and Psychological Sciences.
In response to scientific advancements and developmental needs, and in line with the requirements of comprehensive development programs across various fields, the Department has enhanced its academic capabilities, curricula, and study plans. This development aims to provide an integrated program in educational and psychological sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, ensuring the graduation of academically and professionally qualified specialists capable of working in various sectors and institutions of society.
The postgraduate program was launched in 2005 with the introduction of a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology. Subsequently, the postgraduate curriculum was further developed through the establishment of a PhD program in 2009. The Department aspires to complete the introduction of all its specializations at the postgraduate level within its future development plans.
Through the educational programs it offers, supported by the competence and expertise of its faculty members at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as its research, consultative, counseling, and awareness-raising activities, the Department seeks to achieve leadership and excellence in preparing scientifically, educationally, and professionally qualified cadres. This is accomplished in accordance with contemporary local and regional requirements and characteristics, and within a high-quality academic and research environment rich in stimuli and experiences. Such an environment enables students to achieve self-fulfillment, maximize their potential, and acquire cognitive and ethical competencies, along with the ability to accomplish tasks effectively. Consequently, graduates become aware of their role in serving their community and recognize education as a pathway toward positive change and improvement.

Department Vision
The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Tikrit, seeks to achieve excellence and efficiency at the local, regional, and international levels, thereby qualifying it to obtain academic accreditation. This is pursued through its scientific, research, educational, and humanitarian activities, and by adopting practical programs across various fields that serve the labor market, community institutions, and societal partnership, in accordance with the requirements of educational and professional institutions.
The Department is committed to preparing students academically and professionally, enabling them to effectively apply knowledge to enhance their professional lives and contribute positively to the lives of individuals and institutions within society, with the aim of building a dynamic, progressive, and sustainable community.
