A Doctoral Dissertation at the College of Education for Humanities Discusses “Fath al-Mannan fi Tafsir al-Qur’an by Qutb al-Din Mahmoud ibn Mas‘ud al-Shirazi (d. 710 AH): Surat Al-Hijr from Verse (39) to Verse (87) – A Study and Verification”

A doctoral dissertation entitled “Fath al-Mannan fi Tafsir al-Qur’an by Qutb al-Din Mahmoud ibn Mas‘ud al-Shirazi (d. 710 AH): Surat Al-Hijr from Verse (39) to Verse (87) – A Study and Verification” was discussed at the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education, College of Education for Humanities, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, by the student Imad Rasheed Samin Al-Bayati.

The dissertation addressed the scholarly study and verification of a section of the renowned Qur’anic exegesis Fath al-Mannan fi Tafsir al-Qur’an authored by Qutb al-Din Mahmoud ibn Mas‘ud al-Shirazi. The research focused on Surat Al-Hijr from verse (39) to verse (87), highlighting the interpretative methodology adopted by the author, as well as the linguistic, rhetorical, and jurisprudential dimensions contained within the text. The study also emphasized the importance of reviving and verifying Islamic manuscript heritage as a contribution to enriching contemporary Qur’anic studies.
