A Master’s Thesis at the College of Education for Humanities Discusses (The Hadiths Narrated by Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad Whose Chains of Transmission Were Graded as Sound by Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami (d. 974 AH) in Al-Zawajir: Collection and Study)

The Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Humanities discussed today, Monday (17 November 2025), the master’s thesis of the student Mohammed Hussein Hamad Al-Jubouri, titled:
“The Hadiths Narrated by Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad Whose Chains of Transmission Were Graded as Sound by Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami (d. 974 AH) in Al-Zawajir: A Collection and Study.”

The study aims to trace the texts of these hadiths and verify their authenticity according to the methodology of Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami. It also examines the biographies and scholarly contributions of both Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal and Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami, with special emphasis on the hadith verification methodology in evaluating chains of transmission.

Key points highlighted in the thesis include:

  1. The personality of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal:
    He is regarded as one of the most prominent hadith scholars in Iraq. His Musnad, arranged according to the companions (may Allah be pleased with them), has become a fundamental reference for students of knowledge.
  2. The personality of Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami:
    He is considered among the leading hadith scholars in Egypt during the later Islamic centuries. His works combine conciseness and scholarly precision, making them essential references for researchers.
  3. Number of hadiths examined:
    The total number of hadiths narrated by Imam Ahmad in Al-Musnad whose chains were graded as sound by Imam Ibn Hajar al-Haytami is twenty-six hadiths.
