A PhD dissertation entitled “Meta-Emotions and Their Relationship with Ego Strength and Future Thinking among University Students” was defended on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, College of Education for Humanities, University of Tikrit.
The dissertation was submitted by the doctoral candidate Muthanna Mohammed Ahmed.
The present study aimed to identify the level of meta-emotions among university students and to determine statistically significant differences according to the variables of gender and academic specialization. The research sample consisted of 300 male and female students.
The study reached several key findings, including:
- A statistically significant difference in favor of male students, who demonstrated higher levels of meta-emotions.
- A statistically significant difference in favor of students in scientific specializations, who showed greater ability in interpreting emotions.
- University students exhibited a moderate level of ego strength.
- University students demonstrated a moderate level of future thinking.
- A statistically significant difference in future thinking in favor of male students.
