The Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Human Sciences held, on Monday, September 15, 2025, the defense of the master’s thesis submitted by Ameer Abdullah Ibrahim, entitled “The Hadiths Graded as ‘Its Chain is Good’ by Imam Ibn Muflih al-Maqdisi (d. 763 AH) in His Book Al-Adab al-Shar‘iyyah wal-Manah al-Mar‘iyyah: A Collection and Study.”
The study aims to shed light on the hadiths that Imam Ibn Muflih graded with the phrase “its chain is good” in his book Al-Adab al-Shar‘iyyah wal-Manah al-Mar‘iyyah. The thesis highlights the scholarly value of these hadiths and underscores the importance of such research in understanding Ibn Muflih’s methodology in hadith evaluation and documentation. It further stresses the necessity of continuing research into Prophetic traditions to preserve and transmit Islamic heritage.
The study reached several key conclusions, including:
-
Imam Ibn Muflih was the leading Hanbali scholar of his time, excelling in jurisprudence, hadith, exegesis, linguistics, ethics, and literature.
-
Although many works have been authored on Islamic etiquette, Ibn Muflih’s Al-Adab al-Shar‘iyyah stands out as one of the most comprehensive compilations.
-
His book serves as a rich reference for scholars in various fields—jurisprudence, hadith, exegesis, linguistics, and ethics—because of the breadth and diversity of topics it covers.
