Master’s Thesis at the College of Education for Humanities Discusses “Academic Coping Strategies and Their Relationship to Emotional Stability Among University Students”

A Master’s thesis was discussed at the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, College of Education for Humanities, on Tuesday (May 19, 2026), submitted by the student Dhiaa Hussein Hamad Al-Ramli, entitled “Academic Coping Strategies and Their Relationship to Emotional Stability Among University Students.”

The current study aims to identify:

  1. Academic coping strategies among university students.
  2. Differences in academic coping strategies according to gender (male–female).
  3. Differences in academic coping strategies according to specialization (scientific–humanities).
  4. Emotional stability among university students.
  5. Differences in emotional stability according to gender (male–female).

The research population consisted of students from University of Tikrit for the academic year (2025–2026), totaling (26,932) male and female students. The research sample included (300) students selected through a stratified random sampling method with proportional distribution according to gender and specialization variables.

The researcher adopted the descriptive correlational approach due to its suitability for this type of study. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher developed the first scale measuring academic coping strategies. In its initial form, the scale consisted of (36) items distributed across three domains: problem-oriented coping strategy, emotion-oriented coping strategy, and avoidance coping strategy.
