On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the Master’s thesis of the student Israa Kareem Najm Al-Din Al-Halwaji was discussed in the Department of English at the College of Education for Humanities. The thesis is entitled:
“The Impact of Active Recall Strategy on EFL School Students’ Achievement in Reading and Writing.”
This study aimed to investigate the effect of the active recall strategy on improving reading and writing skills among middle school students learning English as a foreign language. The study population consisted of 395 students from middle schools in Kirkuk city. A random sample of 64 students was selected from a morning middle school in Kirkuk and divided into two groups: an experimental group of 32 students taught using the active recall strategy, and a control group of 32 students taught by traditional methods.
After ensuring equivalence between the two groups and analyzing the data using appropriate statistical tools, the results revealed that the active recall strategy had a significant positive impact on enhancing the reading and writing skills of the experimental group compared to the control group.
