The College of Education for Humanities Organizes a Qur’an Memorization and Recitation Competition (Surah Yusuf) under the Slogan “A Journey of Faith”

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education, in cooperation with the Student Activities Division, organized a Qur’an memorization and recitation competition of Surah Yusuf under the slogan “A Journey of Faith” on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Ibn Khaldun Hall.

More than (30) male and female contestants from various colleges and departments of the University participated in the competition, in the presence of a number of faculty members and students.

The competition aimed to promote religious values among students, develop accurate recitation skills in accordance with the rules of Tajweed, and strengthen their connection with the Holy Qur’an as a way of life and a source of guidance. The participants demonstrated distinguished abilities in memorization and recitation. The judging committee evaluated the contestants based on precise criteria, including the quality of recitation, mastery of Tajweed rules, and overall performance.

The judging committee consisted of:

  1. Assist. Prof. Dr. Musa Taha Sayyah
  2. Lecturer Dr. Noor Saad Hammoud
  3. Assistant Lecturer Safa Abdulsalam Abdulwahab

At the conclusion of the competition, the top winners were honored as follows:

  • First Place: Yousif Saadoun Awwad – Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education / College of Education for Humanities
  • Second Place: Qutaiba Hassan Al-Hatimi – College of Islamic Sciences / Department of Qur’anic Interpretation and Sciences
  • Third Place: Ayman Abbas Ghudaib – Department of Fundamentals of Religion

All participants were also awarded certificates of participation in recognition of their efforts and active engagement.

The Deanship of the College of Education for Humanities, represented by the Dean, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the faculty members of the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education and the Student Activities Division in organizing such meaningful academic competitions that contribute to enhancing students’ capabilities. The College also extended its best wishes to the judging committee and participating students for continued success in their academic journey.
