College of Education for Humanities Holds an Awareness Seminar Entitled “Terrorism, Intellectual Extremism, and Community Peace”

under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmood Raouf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Dr. Imad Hameed Ahmed, the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences, in cooperation with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit and in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, organized an awareness seminar entitled “Terrorism, Intellectual Extremism, and Community Peace” on Monday, December 8, 2025.

The seminar, delivered by Prof. Dr. Aqeel Abdul-Majeed, Prof. Dr. Wafaa Kanaan, Colonel Biologist Khalaf Musa from the Criminal Investigations Division of Salah Al-Din Police, and Captain Dr. Dahham Mohi from the Community Police, aimed to highlight the dangers of intellectual extremism, its contemporary manifestations, and the role of educational and security institutions in promoting community peace.

The speakers addressed several key themes, including:

  1. The psychological and social factors contributing to the emergence of extremist ideologies.
  2. The role of the university in developing preventive awareness among students.
  3. The Ministry of Interior’s mechanisms for combating terrorism and enhancing community security.
  4. The importance of cooperation between state institutions and society to reduce extremism and promote a culture of coexistence.

The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations emphasizing the need to intensify awareness programs, reinforce the values of dialogue and moderation, and strengthen partnerships between educational and security institutions to contribute to safeguarding society and sustaining its stability.
