Under the patronage of the President of the University of Tikrit, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Scientific Affairs Division, organized an awareness campaign as part of the implementation of the Third National Action Plan for Women, Peace, and Security – Pillar of Protection and Prevention for the year 2025.
The campaign, entitled “Education Is a Right for All… Literacy Is the Path to Development,” was held on Sunday, December 14, 2024.
The campaign aimed to highlight the importance of education as a fundamental human right and an indispensable tool for achieving sustainable development and social justice. It also sought to raise awareness of the risks associated with alphabetic and societal illiteracy, as well as the vital role of literacy in empowering individuals and building more stable and peaceful communities.
This campaign comes in line with national orientations that seek to enhance individual awareness of the right to education, as education and literacy are considered cornerstones of community development.
The organizers of the campaign emphasized that investing in education and combating illiteracy represents an investment in human capital and in a brighter future for all. They noted that achieving development goals begins with ensuring access to quality and inclusive education for every individual without discrimination.
