Under the patronage of the President of University of Tikrit, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific course entitled “An Introduction to the Study of the Principles of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh)” for the period (3–4 March 2026).
The course aimed to introduce participants to the concept of Usul al-Fiqh, its historical emergence and development, and its importance in deriving Islamic legal rulings and understanding Qur’anic and Prophetic texts according to sound scholarly principles. It also highlighted the major topics of this discipline, particularly the agreed-upon and disputed sources of Islamic legislation, methods of legal reasoning, semantic indications of linguistic expressions, and the discussions related to the concept and categories of legal rulings.
This course forms part of the College’s efforts to strengthen rigorous academic pathways and develop the research capabilities of its students and staff, thereby contributing to the advancement of academic standards and the consolidation of sound scientific methodology in Islamic studies.
