Under the patronage of the President of University of Tikrit, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raoof, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Geography at the College of Education for Human Sciences, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at University of Tikrit, organized a scientific course entitled:
“Field Study between Theoretical Foundations in Modern Geographic Thought and Its Applications in Population Geography.”
The course is held on March 3–4, 2026.
The course aims to highlight the importance of field study as a fundamental methodological tool in geographical research, while shedding light on its theoretical foundations within modern geographic thought and clarifying the mechanisms for employing it in population geography studies in line with contemporary methodological developments.
The course also seeks to enhance the skills of students and researchers in designing and implementing field studies through introducing the steps of questionnaire preparation, methods of collecting quantitative and qualitative data, and the scientific approaches used in analyzing and interpreting such data. In addition, it explains how to link the theoretical framework with practical application in the study of population phenomena.
This course comes within the framework of the college’s efforts to consolidate sound scientific methodology and develop the research capabilities of its students and staff members, thereby contributing to improving academic performance and enhancing the quality of scientific research in the field of geography.
