The College of Education for Human Sciences Organizes a Scientific Course Entitled “Rhetorical Context and Its Impact on Qur’anic Expression: Tafsir of Al-Taher Ibn Ashur as a Model”

Under the patronage of the President of University of Tikrit, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Arabic Language at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific course entitled “Rhetorical Context and Its Impact on Qur’anic Expression: Tafsir of Al-Taher Ibn Ashur as a Model” for the period (2–3 March 2026).

The course, delivered by Professor Dr. Mohammed Yass Khudair, Professor Dr. Abdulkarim Abd Ahmed, and Professor Dr. Munir Mohammed Dahham, aimed to shed light on the concept of rhetorical context in linguistic and rhetorical studies and to clarify its role in guiding meaning and deriving interpretations from Qur’anic texts. The course also examined prominent applications of this concept in the interpretation of Al-Taher Ibn Ashur, particularly in his renowned work Al-Tahrir wa Al-Tanwir, which represents a leading model in integrating rhetorical analysis with Qur’anic exegesis.

Furthermore, the course sought to develop participants’ skills in conducting precise rhetorical analysis of Qur’anic texts and to enhance awareness of the importance of contextual indicators in understanding textual meanings. It also highlighted their role in guiding interpretation and evaluating exegetical opinions, thereby contributing to raising the academic level of undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as researchers in the fields of Arabic language and Qur’anic studies.
