The College of Education for Humanities Holds a Scientific Symposium Entitled “Begging in Society: Roots of the Phenomenon, Its Impacts, and Methods of Treatment”

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Waad Mahmood Raouf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education held today, Wednesday (26 November 2025), a scientific symposium entitled “Begging in Society: Roots of the Phenomenon, Its Impacts, and Methods of Treatment.”

The symposium aimed to shed light on begging as one of the growing social problems, by clarifying its historical, social, and economic roots, highlighting its negative effects on the individual and society, and presenting academic and practical perspectives to address and limit its spread.

The symposium included discussions of several key themes, most notably:

  • The causes behind the spread of begging in urban environments
  • The religious and legal frameworks for addressing the phenomenon
  • The psychological and educational impacts on children involved in begging
  • The importance of the role played by families, educational institutions, and security bodies in reducing the issue

The researchers presented a set of proposed solutions, including enhancing social welfare programs, raising community awareness, and establishing effective mechanisms to limit the expansion of the phenomenon.

The Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Imad Hamid Ahmed, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the faculty members in the Department of Quranic Sciences in organizing such fruitful scientific events, wishing them continued success and dedication in serving the college and the university.
