Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, is organizing a scientific course entitled “Mechanisms of Writing Historical Research in Graduate Studies” for the period March 29–30, 2026.
The course aims to develop the skills of graduate students in preparing and writing historical research in accordance with rigorous scientific and methodological foundations. This will be achieved by introducing the stages of scientific research, beginning with topic selection and problem formulation, followed by the collection and analysis of sources and references, and culminating in the proper academic writing and documentation of research.
The course also seeks to enhance participants’ abilities to employ various historical methodologies and to effectively handle documents and primary sources. In addition, it aims to develop critical thinking, analytical, and inferential skills, thereby contributing to the production of high-quality research that meets the requirements of graduate studies.
The course includes several themes, including: the foundations of writing historical research, mechanisms of academic documentation, historical research methodologies, research ethics, as well as common errors in writing theses and dissertations and ways to address them.
This course is organized as part of the College’s ongoing efforts to advance the academic level of graduate students and to equip them with methodological tools that enable them to complete their research efficiently and in accordance with recognized academic standards.
